About

I'm Aspen Huggins, parent of two, knitter, occasional poet, and collector of ampersands. Through my now more-than-a-dozen years in government, I've held a variety of positions including file clerk, business analyst, program manager and free agent. On this path, I see that management and leadership are neither automatically connected nor mutually exclusive. I made the choice to be a leader since well before it was part of my job description.

My influences include:
  • a really excellent (now defunct) CSPS course called iLeadership
  • the work of Patrick Lencioni
  • National Manager’s Community Tools for Engagement
  • many talented past and present colleagues
Leading from “here” is about leading from wherever you are in the organization, in the country, and on your own personal growth journey. Whether it’s demonstrating leadership in front-line service positions, or influencing policy in wider-reach management roles, you can influence and create the change you want to see -- no matter where your “here” is.

I write to sort out my own thinking, and I share it here in hopes of sparking ideas and dialogue with other folks. Comments are open, or catch me on Twitter @PSSuzanne
